You can use a food processor or hand shred.

(including liquid)

Instructions
In large non-stick sauce pan, saute onions and garlic until onions are translucent. (Note, I normally use white onion with this recipe).
First add entire contents of diced tomatoes and stir gently to get any stuck bits of onion and garlic from the bottom of the pan.
Add ALL ingredients, stir, bring it to a boil, and simmer for 40 minutes or until sauce thickens.
After sauce thickens, spoon over pizza with a ladle or use for spaghetti!
